Year-round there are movies at The Highline Drive-In. There are also frequent pop-up outdoor movie events throughout the city such as free movies on the deck of The Intrepid. In the summertime there are free movie showings regularly through the NYC Parks Department. This is one of my favorite outdoor activities in NYC to enjoy on a nice day. The Highline gets very crowded on weekends, so plan to go on a weekday to avoid the crowds. It spans along the west side of Manhattan between 12th street and 34th street, and offers great views of Chelsea. It is converted from an abandoned railway track, and some parts of the track are still remaining. The High Line is a linear park that sits about two stories above street level. It is an incredible spot for photos and takes about 60 minutes to walk across it. The Brooklyn Bridge connects lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. They normally serve drinks and refreshments on the rooftop, but the bar is closed this season. The rooftop can be tough to find, so be sure to ask for directions once you are inside the Met. It is decorated beautifully and it offers an incredible view of central park and the manhattan skyline. The rooftop of the Metropolitan Museum of Art is absolutely stunning. After kayaking I recommend checking out the Ghostbusters firehouse, grabbing a picture in front of the Staple Street Sky Bridge, and strolling by Taylor Swift’s apartment building (if you are a mega-fan like me □) Metropolitan Museum of Art rooftop Tip: bring a change of clothes or wear a swimsuit, because you will definitely get wet!
